PENTECOST LOSES A GREAT PILLAR OF INSPIRATION | February 2, 2010
Bishop Norman L. Wagner grew up in Youngstown, Ohio. He graduated from South High School and attended Youngstown State University. He went on to study at Aenon Bible College of Columbus and Indiana Bible College in Indianapolis. He received bachelors and master’s degrees in theology from these aforementioned institutions. Bishop Wagner is known as the world-renowned teacher, preacher, and pastor of Calvary Ministries International in Youngstown, Ohio. He was installed as pastor in 1971 and went on to author several books, establish a senior citizens center, open a charter school, and launch a nationally recognized television ministry. Bishop Wagner served as President of the IPYPU (1973-1976), at which time his administration celebrated the 1st TV Broadcast, a feature in Ebony Magazine (1975), publishing “This Is Pentecost,” establishing the Presidential Congress and the 1st NPYPU (the former IPYPU alias) Convention. He also served as the former Presiding Bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. (1998-2004), and as Diocesan Bishop over the 13th Episcopal District (Texas) until his death. Bishop Wagner was not only known to be a great preacher, but he was a respected and honored illustration of faith; portrayed each day as he lived the same message he taught. He delivered this message of Jesus Christ to all who would hear it, while crossing many international and denominational boundaries throughout his career. Along with the likes of Bishop Paul Bowers, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Bishop James A. Johnson, Bishop Noel Jones, Bishop Eddie Long, Bishop G.E. Patterson, and many more, Bishop Wagner has set the tone for preachers of the apostolic faith around the world. Bishop Norman Wagner died Saturday, January 30th, 2010, at the age of 68 after experiencing complications following heart surgery. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Rita Helen Wagner, two daughters and one granddaughter. OUR PRAYERS GO OUT TO HAITI | January 21, 2010 The hearts of the IPYPU go out to the many lives lost in the major earthquake that struck southern Haiti several days ago. After a 7.0 earthquake struck on last Tuesday, January 12th, and then the 6.1 aftershock experienced yesterday, we are increased in the desire to reach out to God. "It is VERY important that we remember the Story of the "Good Samaritan" and keep in mind that people's lives are always at stake with decisions whether it's made by God or man. In other words, it could always be worse or it could've been you. Let's come together collectively as the IPYPU BODY and pray for Haiti and the families that are suffering from something that was totally out of their control. God is Sovereign, therefore, we cannot figure out the mind of God, however we have the ability to go to God. So, let's go to GOD in prayer and supplication and let's do what we can as individuals to help aid this great cause for Haiti. LET'S GO IPYPU!" Elder C.D. Collier, President The quake has knocked down buildings and power lines and left many without food, water or shelter. Let us keep the nation of Haiti and all of the many volunteers that have and are traveling to render support in our prayers. Let us also do our part by partnering with ongoing relief efforts... |
